School Board Report analyzes real school board decisions from actual meetings. Every piece of analysis we publish is grounded in documented decisions — board votes, meeting minutes, superintendent contracts, policy resolutions — from the previous 60 days. We do not analyze hypotheticals. We do not cover proposals that never came to a vote. We cover what boards actually did.
Our coverage focuses on three domains:
- Governance patterns — how boards exercise (and misexercise) their governance role
- Superintendent relationships — how board-superintendent dynamics shape district performance
- Board accountability — how boards hold themselves and district leadership accountable to student outcomes
We analyze school board decisions through the lens of outcomes: do these decisions make it more or less likely that students will be well-served? We are not partisan and do not cover school boards through a political lens. We cover governance quality — the degree to which board decisions reflect sound governance practice — regardless of the political orientation of the board.
We do not cover every district or every meeting. We cover patterns that illuminate something about governance quality, and we cover decisions that have consequences worth tracing.
